Crawford Nickel Sulphide Project is the World’s Second Largest Nickel Resource and Reserve

  • Crawford Project Referred to Major Projects Office by Government Canada
  • Named to Province of Ontario’s One Project, One Process “1P1P” framework
  • Strategic Shareholders: Agnico Eagle (10%); Samsung SDI (7.2%); Taykwa Tagamou Nation (7.1%) upon conversion; Anglo American (6.3%)
  • LOI from EDC to provide a  loan up $500 million, additional $C500 million from another agency
  • $100 million from exercise of Samsung SDI Offtake Option
  • Robust Economics: US$ 2.8 billion after-tax NPV (US$2.9 billion including expected carbon capture and storage tax credit); 17.6% after-tax IRR (18.9% including expected CCUS tax credits)

Permitting

  • The Crawford Nickel Project has progressed to the Impact Assessment (IA) Phase of the federal Impact Assessment process, the final stage prior to the Decision-Making phase. Comprehensive project documentation is available via the IAAC Registry.
  • According to current IAAC guidance, the IA Phase is scheduled for completion in June 2026, with the final Decision-Making phase concluding in early summer 2026
  • The Crawford Nickel Project has also been selected for a streamlined permitting strategy involving both federal and provincial authorities. By leveraging the provincial “One Project, One Process” framework and the federal Major Projects Office (MPO), Canada Nickel is ensuring expedited review timelines and regulatory certainty.
Crawford Stages

Mining

  • 41+ year life of mine. 1.6Mt nickel, 58 Mt iron, 2.8 Mt chrome.
  • 48 ktpa nickel, 0.8 ktpa cobalt, 13 kozpa PGMs, 1.6 mtpa iron over 27-year peak production
  • FEED completed (2024); NPV improved by more than US$300 million; initial capital cost held to 5% to US$2.0 billion.
  • IPT Carbonation test work demonstrates potential to store 1.5 Mt of CO2 annually at peak production.
  • Expected Ni recovery of up to 53.5%, with a Life of Mine recovery of 41.5%, and a Ni concentrate grade of 34.5%

Resources & Geology

Crawford Table
  • Crawford Ultramafic Complex (CUC) consists of serpentinized dunite, peridotite, and lesser pyroxenite and gabbro.
  • Nickel sulphide mineralization delineated in two principal zones, the main and east zones, separated by a NW-SE major fault. Hosted by serpentinized dunite and peridotite. Both zones extend to at least 800 depth (remains open at depth)
  • Strong and pervasive serpentinization has significantly upgraded the mineralogy to secondary minerals such as heazlewoodite and awaruite, which have a much higher nickel tenor than pentlandite
